1. Our Commitment
The Emancip8 Project is committed to improving the accessibility of its website and digital services for all individuals, including persons with disabilities. We recognize that digital accessibility is both a legal obligation and a fundamental component of our humanitarian mission. We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). A formal third-party accessibility audit has not yet been conducted, and we do not claim full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance at this time.
2. Design Principles
We develop the Services with the four foundational accessibility principles in mind:
Perceivable: We aim to present information and user interface components in ways that all users can perceive, including providing text alternatives for non-text content and maintaining sufficient color contrast ratios.
Operable: We aim to make user interface components and navigation operable by all users, including through keyboard navigation and providing sufficient time for users to interact with content.
Understandable: We aim to make information and the operation of the user interface understandable through readable text content, consistent navigation, and input assistance.
Robust: We aim to make content robust enough to be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies, through the use of semantic HTML.
3. Steps Taken
The following accessibility measures have been incorporated into the Platform's development:
- Semantic HTML structure with heading hierarchy and landmark regions;
- Keyboard navigation support for interactive elements including forms, buttons, and links;
- Visible focus indicators on focusable elements;
- Responsive design that adapts to various screen sizes and zoom levels;
- Consistent navigation patterns and page structure across pages;
- Form labels programmatically associated with their respective input fields.
4. Known Limitations
We are aware that certain areas of the Platform may present accessibility challenges:
- The 3D Cube Explorer visualization relies on WebGL rendering, which may not be accessible to screen reader users. A text-based reference table is provided below the visualization as an alternative;
- Complex data visualizations in the dashboards and metrics sections may not convey their full information to assistive technology users;
- Color contrast ratios have not been formally audited across all pages and may not meet WCAG 2.1 AA minimums in all instances;
- Some interactive components may lack complete ARIA labeling.
5. Feedback and Reporting
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of the Services. If you encounter an accessibility barrier or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us at:
Email: [email protected]
Contact Form: emancip8project.com/contact
When reporting an accessibility issue, please include:
- A description of the issue and the specific page or feature affected;
- The browser and operating system you are using;
- The assistive technology you are using, if applicable;
- Your preferred method of contact for follow-up.
We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within five (5) business days and to address identified issues within a reasonable timeframe.
6. Ongoing Improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We intend to conduct a formal WCAG 2.1 AA audit and to address identified gaps as the Platform matures. We incorporate user feedback into our development process and review this commitment periodically. This statement will be updated to reflect progress toward conformance as improvements are made.
